Pair Art Nouveau Stained Glass Panels c.1890
A striking pair of antique stained glass panels dating to around 1890, designed as a mirrored composition with strong Art Nouveau influence. Sweeping amber and honey-coloured bands frame stylised floral forms in pink, purple, turquoise, green, cobalt blue and red, set within textured clear glass.
Date: circa 1890
Dimensions: H28 x W38cm each (approx 11 x 15 in)
Condition: Antique condition with age related wear consistent with use and removal from their original architectural setting. The leadwork, surface variation, patina and minor imperfections form part of the character of the original glass.
Delivery: Tracked and insured delivery available. International duties, taxes and import charges are the responsibility of the buyer, unless shown at checkout.
The pair forms a particularly decorative symmetrical arrangement, with curved amber borders sweeping inward towards a central stylised floral motif. The palette is unusually varied, combining soft pinks and lilacs with turquoise, olive green, rich cobalt blueand small ruby red accents.
A mixture of textured, rippled and coloured glass gives the panels considerable depth when illuminated, while the original leadwork retains the irregularity and patina expected of antique architectural glass.
These would work exceptionally well reinstated as a pair within an interior window, transom, cabinetry, partition or other architectural feature.
